Long-lost lover

((Female)) and ((Male)) grew up together through elementary,middle, and high-school. Their graduation night ((male)) confessed his feelings for ((Female)) and not long after they started to date, they were happy, they were always together having fun no one ever thought they would break up but after a year, they broke up..it was a mutual thing, (Male) stayed in Denver and (female) moved to New York. Now..it's five years later, ((female)) is back in Denver and she isn't the same, she is quieter, shier, and well easily scared. She moved back in with her parents.((Male)) is married and has one kid. After (female)'s mom started to talk about how well (male) was doing in life. (female) couldn't help but sad she missed him..a lot..so she calls him..and that's when everything starts..she tells him about New York..everything..about New York..

Eva sighed as she sat on the couch of her mothers her feet pulled up to her chest as her mother rambled on and on about everyone in town then soon about James.. Eva sighed and bit the inside of her lip and fiddled with the hem of her sleeve she hadn't told her mother about what happened in New York she didn't have the heart to.. She listened to her mother hearing her talk about James made her well miss him.. she regretted leaving in this first place and that just made it even worse. After a while her mom stopped talking to start cooking for dinner.

Eva pulled out her cell phone and flipped though her contacts till she found James..she never had the heart to delete his number and now she was glad she hadn't. Eva stared at the number then put her phone away.."I'll be back in a bit mom I'm gonna walk around.." She pulled on a coat and left the house.

I sat on the porch steps with Jace , my little son , on my lap . In moments like that one , my mind got lost in tons of thoughts , possibilities and might have beens . I loved my family, Brianna and Jace . Despite we had not started in the best conditions, they were all I had , all I had left . My parents had passed away long time ago and ... her . I shrugged away the thought as soon as it came to my mind . I did not want to open up that chapter of my life . It had been special , beyond meaningful , at the same time it had ended in a painful and pointless way . If I allowed my mind to ponder on that issue , I would get this regret , a huge realization, over and over again, that I had made a mistake by letting it end ...By letting her step away from my side.

Eva walked lost in thought running into old neighbors or friends here and there she would chit-chat then continue on her way.She chewed on her lip as she walked her mind utterly up in outer space. Soon she came to a coffee shop that was new. She got a drink and sat down she pulled out her phone again she hesitated for a moment before she called James..

"Daddy ? Can we buy a doggie ?" Jace asked as he watched the neighbor across the street walk his old dog. "Uhm... Mom and I would have to think about it " I patted his back , smiling down at him . He had been asking that question much , lately . Brianna was allergic to pets , so Jace would not get his chance of having one. I felt my phone buzz inside my sweatpants´pocket . I pulled it out and noticed the caller I.D was unkwown. Who would be calling this early ?

After a while she hung up, "It was stupid even trying.." she muttered to herself and finished her drink and started to walk again

Too late I thought when they stopped calling . If they didn´t call a second time , either it meant they had gotten a wrong number or that it wasn´t an important call.

Eva stayed lost in thought as she walked up and down the neighborhoods not really realizing were she was walking

"Daddy ? Can we walk around ? I´m bored of sitting here without playing anything " Jace pouted up at me . I shook my head smiling and replied "Of course , little friend , but don´t start running away from me like you did that other time "

She walked down street she looked at the house the yard nothing had changed..

"What about a piggy back ride ?" I asked him smiling . "Yayy! that sounds better ,daddy " I crouched down so he would hop on my back .

Eva walked soon her phone went off her mother asking her bunch of questions

I raised my head when I hear a cellphone ringing . I froze when I saw her . I had to be dreaming . She was gone . My mind had to be tricking me. "Daddy ??" Jace patted my shoulder.

Yes mother, I'll head back.." then she hung up and sighed then looked up and froze seeing the last person to see...

"Daddy !Who´s her ?" Jace asked into my ear . I didn´t answer him, yet his question made it clear that she being there was real , I wasn´t imagining anything.

Eva's eyes started to water but she blinked it away and swallowed lightly, she wouldn't have expected to see James. She opened her mouth to speak but nothing came out.

After having an internal struggle as I watched her speechless, I managed to say "Hi" . A simple greeting , as if we had never stopped seeing each other .

"uh..hi.." she smiled and walked over to him

I smiled as Jace waved shyly at Eva. "It had been so long since we last saw each other " I whispered feeling somehow awkard.

she waved lightly at the little boy with a smile, "Yeah.." she agreed, "but it seems your doing well thats good.."

"Yeah " I nodded , scratching the back of my neck. "So , what have I missed ?" I asked with an easy smile.

"thats good..uhh nothing much, finished college.."
